Each year, I wrestle with where to be on New Year's Eve. The answer usually winds up the same, though that doesn't lessen my struggle. For the past 30 some years, I have spent almost every New Years' at the San Francisco Folk Music Club's camp.
I have watched the changes . . . watched young people grow older and people who weren't . . . come into being and pass through. The place I feel the most connected is when I gather with those people I have known through their childhoods into adulthood. I savor their presence and wonder at the people they have become. I am truly honored that they value me and my music enough to spend their precious camp time with me. It is fuel for the new year!
