Halloween was a bust and it just got worse. Perhaps I'm too old to dress up and was being punished by the fahion lords. All geared up as Wonderwoman (this year Wonderwoman from the West to spice it up a bit) the rain was terrible in LA (it rains two days out of the year and of course it had to be on Halloween- truly scary). After Lizzey telling me three times that she'd had a really bad premonition about us going out to this party in Hollywood, I went on with another friend. It took so long to get there and by the time I did, the line was so long and it was cold and rainy- over it in a second. I was awoken at 6am by Lizzey saying that she'd just returned from the hospital from having been in a terrible car accident. Perhaps I shouldn't have removed the garb yet! She decided to go out at the last minute against her will. I am now sitting in her room as I write this after a long few days. Up at the hospital for three days is no picnic, especially when your best friend is in so much agony and pain. She has a fractured pelvis and sacrum and a 10% lung collapse that is healing very well. I can't tell you how trying and frightening the whole situation has been and how tiring it is, but I'm so beyond relieved that she will be okay. She is really recovery quickly. I wonder if it's normal for me and my other 21 year old girlfriends to have such major health challenges at such a young age: Lizzey with the car accident, Nell with Lupus, Jessie with brain surgery, me with my cancer. Each incident is just reaffirmation of faith and mine is growing so much all the time.
I am finally comforatably moved into my apartment in Santa Monica. The look is “industrial chic.” It has concrete floors. A large red rug under the wooden sleak kitchen table and simple red-stained wooden chairs. Another rug is black in front of my chartreuse desk. The walls are adorned with many windows, so not too much room for art, but the foliage surrounding the studio is great. The courtyard is inviting and relaxing. My bed is a futon matress with many pillows (still keeping in slightly opium den as is my style) with a honeycomb divider at the head to separate my vanity/dressing area as it is all one big room. Oh yeah, and there are two skylights which I think is pretty cool too. All is well at the spa and Italian classes, reading, yoga, eating well, and being with my Lizzey are all keeping me happily busy.
Love,
Pace
